What I Remember is a melancholic recollection of two love stories that shaped the narrator’s life. The first one is about her first lesbian crush on a camp counsellor. The narrator recalls the shame and excitement but admits that she did not fully understand the implication of her feelings. In the second one, the narrator, now fully aware of her lesbianism, describes her first college crush on the only other lesbian in her town. Hanging out in bars around campus every night with the hope of seeing her, the two finally met and ended up making out in Westmount Park. She describes the longing, the obsession and the feeling of excitement of that first physical contact.
