Synopsis

We're Funny That Way! is a comedy television series that premiered on Canada’s speciality channel OUTtv in 2007. The series follows gay comedians during two editions of Canada's International Queer Comedy Festival in Toronto. Founded in 1996, the festival runs every spring at Toronto’s Buddies in Bad Times Theater and is associated with a foundation that donates money to queer charities in smaller towns and cities across Canada. The series, consisting of six 30-minute episodes, explores the cultural implications of “gay humour” but also demonstrates the implicit camaraderie between the comedians, raising its funny discourses to the level of social commentary.
