Synopsis
Nana, George and Me explores the live experiences shared by the filmmaker’s 92 year-old Iraqi Jewish grandmother and George Hayim, a gay Iraqi Jewish writer. The “me” of the title is, of course, referring to Balass himself, who is somehow implicitly the lead character of the film, as he is trying to make sense of his own sense of being a marginalized minority. The result is a, at times, shocking but always heartwarming, look at differences and sameness.
