Synopsis
This tape is a celebration of two years of regular Gayblevision programming. It covers a broad spectrum of Vancouver LGBTQ experience: from the Mr. Leather Contest, to evenings at the Vanport, the first Gay Unity Parade, and Jane Rule’s controversial statement about coming out. (VIVO) This compilation, re-released by VIVO for the Gayblevision Legacy Project they house permanently, beautifully captures a moment of liberation and hope in the Vancouver community, including early aspirations to same-sex marriage and public acceptance, which many Canadians now take for granted.
