HISTORIES, FANTASIES AND ALL POSSIBLE FUTURES

Thursday, August 16th, 8PM

OUTDOOR screening McGill Campus, at field located at corner of Peel and avenue des Pins.

Screening + Performance with Vincent Mousseau, Tranna Wintour, curated by Dorian J. Fraser

The connection to our past and possible futures is sometimes a broken promise for trans* people. Whether it is a power to contain, or hold multitudes of histories in our flesh, or even the surreptitiousness of filmmaker and author Chase Joynt’s statement that, “you only live twice,” we carry somatic histories, desires and fortunes in our heart, skin and bone.

Narrative and experimental films can express for trans* artists, powerful, even radical visions of past, present and future that respond to our thoughts, feelings and stories as only we have known them.

We are pleased to present this selection of short films that take trans* subjects through history and sometimes surreality into our imperfect present and beyond. These films are documentary and fantasy; based in stories and emergent histories, they mark our bodies and memory in a world where there is indeed a multitude of resonant narratives that guide and pull us forward into our own.

Atlantic is a Sea of Bones (2017, 7min) - Tourmaline
Akin (2012, 8min) - Chase Joynt
Tremblement de chair (2001, 7min) - Mirha-Soleil Ross

Accessibility: We will be setting up near the Peel entrance to Mont Royal off of avenue des Pins, beside the stone wall on the east edge of the park not too far up!
