Peaches Does Herself

- Films We Like
In this 2012 documentary, Peaches stages the story of her life in a sexually forthright electro-opera. Starting from her humble beginning as a sexually frustrated artist in her bedroom well into her international career as a bona fide rock star, Peaches Does Herself focuses on her radical queer politics while trying to answer many misconceptions surrounding the mythical performer. Through a carefully selected collection of songs from all of her albums and appearances by infamous members of the international queer community, Peaches’ first full length film reads more like a love letter to the queer community that gave her the space to discover her sexuality and herself than as a simple narcissistic endeavor.
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2012 and was well received by critics and audiences alike.
