This 45-minute film by Marusya Bociurkiw retraces and rewrites the history of the girl-detective genre with an all-star cast of Vancouver artists, featuring Kirsten Robek as Nancy Drew, and Western Front artists Eric Metcalfe and Hank Bull. Following the multi-plot style of the Nancy Drew series, the story is set in the town of Riverdale Heights, where Nancy works as a research assistant by day and as a detective by night. When she gets a call from her boss to locate the stolen original writings of Freud’s discovery of traumatic memory in his female clients, Drew must act quickly. After visiting the Incest Survivors' Hall of Fame, where she receives clues from Roseanne and the Dionne Quintuplets, Nancy begins to suspect that there is a link between Freud and her employer. After a racy sexual encounter with a feminist therapist, an appearance on a television talk show and a showdown with her own boss, Drew solves the mystery of the stolen papers. Special effects artist Shawn Chappelle and sound artist Peter Courtemanche both helped Bociurkiw create this 1950s-inspired postmodern tale.
