Stev'nn Hall

Videomaker, editor. A Concordia-trained Maritimer, Hall is based in Toronto, but also worked in Vancouver, contributing to both arts festivals and mainstream TV production as well as an irreverent and reflective indie sideline in sm fantasy. Bondage Television (1999, 10) pushed the TV trailer format to its fiendishly self-parodic extreme, including everything from 1950s physique spanking to Mel Gibson emoting from his armpits, strung up in a Hollywood dungeon. Red in the Face (2000, 6) is also about extremes, but in a different mode: a disturbingly subjective and matter-of-fact narrative of sequestration and murder. all blamed on the psychopath narrator’s excess of TV socialization (Bionic Woman!) within his 1970s nuclear family.
