Filmmaker, dancer. A Toronto-based filmmaker and performer, Hong premiered her first short film A Dragged Out Affair at the 2010 Toronto International Reel Asian Film Festival. A Romeo and Juliet inspired musical set in the vibrant Toronto’s drag scene, the film explored with humor and frankness, the performative aspect of drag. Her next short, Waack Revolt centers around a queer love story that challenges traditional gender roles by exploring the art of waacking, a urban dance that originated in the 70s. Recognized for its femininity, the dance encourages both men and women to seek out new forms of movements and display a new sense of empowerment.
