A Canadian video artist, Nicolas Jenkins was born in Peru, he and his family moved a lot as a child, finally settling in Canada where he graduated high school and went on to pursue a degree in Video and Performance Art from Toronto’s college of Art. He then moved to Montreal where he became a pioneer in the underground warehouse party scene of the late eighties and early nineties. The infamous raid on his Sex Garage party sparked mobilization in the Montreal community in the early 1990. Jenkins then produced a series that was originally aired as a monthly cable show in New York called PRODUCT ( Diary of a Disco Dolly) it became an outlet for fringe and queer artists to discuss and show how their art was distributed and shown to the masses.
