Visual artist, video maker. This Montreal-based artist obtained a Master’s of Fine Arts in London (UK) in 2011. Her video work centres mostly on the connections between subjectivity and storytelling. In Agenda she observes how seeing a movie multiple times can change its meaning. Juxtaposing images and video-footage, Koelhofner tells the same story three times, explaining her state of mind as she is describing the film after a repeated viewing. On many occasions, she creates layered characters in her work (both filmic and visual); allowing her to elaborate stories in which they can enact their identities. By deconstructing the autobiographical mode often associated with video art, she questions both the format and the artist.
