Arts administrator, curator. UNB-trained Crawford has been the indefatigable distribution coordinator at Toronto’s CFMDC since 1995. Curating programmes of Canadian queer film at community festivals at home (from Vancouver to Toronto) and abroad (London, Toykyo, Miami, South Africa, Melbourne, etc.), Crawford is responsible more than anyone else for Canadian short filmmakers finding an audience, usually funded by federal agencies that Crawford has diligently wooed and won. In 2001 Crawford offered San Francisco’s Frameline, on the quarter-century anniversary of this mother of all queer community fests, an assortment of Canadian queer kitchen films called “Cooking with Canucks,” which may take the cake.
