w./ Colbert, Laurie. Directors, scriptwriters. This Toronto-based, internationally recognized team contributed three films to the queer festival and feminist film circuits in the 1990s. Their documentaries Thank God I’m a Lesbian (1992, 55) and My Feminism (1997, 55) both received critical approval internationally for their lively and fresh spectrums of voices and issues (the former is more Canadian in focus, the latter international). The prize-winning Below the Belt (1999, 13 , TIFF), moved into new territory: a superbly crafted teenage relationship drama showing lovers acting out their ups and downs in the boxing ring, before the unexpected discovery that heterosexual mothers too are caught up in similar passions.
