A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre, Bretten is also a fellow of the Praxis Centre for Screenwriters. He has directed several short films that have played at festivals across the world, including New Skin in 2008 and Deep End in 2011. Deep End tells the the story of a 13 year old boy who finds out his older brother is gay and as they spend the day at a public pool and witness homophobia all around them, the young boy will be forced to make a choice that will determine the type of relationship he will develop with his brother.
