Biography

Video maker, teacher. Trained at UQAM (where she now teaches), prizewinning Montreal artist Barth produced several works during the 1990s committed to exploring, and finding video art equivalents for, French-language feminist and lesbian-feminist literature. Best known was her adapation of Nicole Brossard’s poetic essay-novel La nuit verte du parc labyrinthe (The Green Night of Labyrinth Park, 1993, 24). The writer is seen and heard performing and writing her dense, personal words amid resourceful visual and auditory strategies for communicating their evocative multi-lingual complexity.
