Synopsis

A BravoFACT! Spinoff from Fig Trees, this short docu-opera features an “alphabet” of queer twentieth-century composers (played by twenty-six Toronto queer artists and activists) who are wooing activist Zackie Achmat, the South African AIDS-treatment activist, each arguing that they are the best choice for writing an opera about Zackie’s life (Virgil Thomson wins).
