Biography

Actor. Toronto-bred and -trained Ferguson started on the stage but was the revelation of the film Love and Human Remains (Denys Arcand, 1993) as Kane, the crush-stricken gay busboy. Building on the same type, Ferguson was next the earnest and passionate long-haired teenager in Eclipse (Jeremy Podeswa, 1995), who feels hurt when his lovers treat him like a twink. John Greyson further developed his petulant queer side in Lilies (1996), where as the young Bilodeau his envy and repression lead to destruction, and in Un©ut (1997), where as one of the circumcision-obsessed Peters, his queer persona becomes updated—urban and political but still passionate. The queer-friendly Ferguson got Genie nods for most of the above queer roles, but this potential was to be largely wasted in commercial television and cameo film roles.
