(1991, 1) is a static one-shot manifesto showing the topless artist flipping placards to offset the hasslers who question her public butch persona (“Why is it so important to know if I have a penis or not?”), with a final teaser glimpse of authorial breasts before it’s all over. Cowell founded the “Splice This” Super 8 festival in 1998 with Kelly O’Brien and has also collaborated with Michael Achtman, Robert Kennedy, R.M. Vaughan and Christina Zeidler.
