Don Bapst is a filmmaker, author and translator whose work pushes boundaries in form, style and perspective to give a voice to the marginal, the unnoticed and the forbidden. The filmmaker'snarrative shorts walk the edge between drama and thriller, while his documentary essays have strong elements of both video poetry and narrative storytelling. Born in Chicago, Don Bapst has lived in Paris,London, New York, San Francisco, Montreal, Toronto and Ouagadougou. He studied film at Columbia College in Chicago and received a Master of Fine Arts from Brooklyn College where he studied under Allen Ginsberg. Winner of the 2010 award for Best Up and Coming Toronto Filmmaker at the Inside Out Film Festival, Bapst is also the author of three novels and several plays.
