Video maker, installation artist. University of Ottawa-trained lefave has been part of the Montreal experimental interdisciplinary arts scene since the early nineties. Known for her delicately orchestrated feminist/formalist minimalism, lefave’s most explicitly queer work may be Seuls les éternuements sont éternels (Only sneezing is forever, 1998, 9). This reflection on the optics of watching an eclipse as a blinding vertical stripe through a camera obscura on a beach also reflects the artist’s own identity and perception plus the silhouette of a strolling dyke couple enjoying the beach in a less theoretical way.
