Biography

Video-, film- and radio maker, producer, writer, teacher. Toronto-based Farrow started in the queer punk underground, and showed several irreverent, low budget short films in the late nineties on the queer festival circuit, before settling increasingly at CBC radio. She collaborated with many others in the Toronto queer media milieu, including Allyson Mitchell and Kelly O’Brien, with whom she made Nice (1995, 9), a fierce anti-lifestyle comedy, in which Farrow stars as the lesbian geek who, after making the rounds of the gym, Mazda showrooms, Wal Marts and other dyke consumerist hot spots, discovers she “never knew it costs so much to be a lesbian.” Farrow also produced Roy Mitchell’s I Know a Place.
