Pam Pike

Video maker, interdisciplinary artist, curator, designer. NSCAD-trained, Halifax-based Pike is known for The Absence of Us (1986, 19), an essayistic, diary-based video manifesto that circulated among festivals in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Textured by words, names and writing, Absence also constructs in its claustrophobic studio set a minimalist narrative around an on-again off-again couple and a search for community. Its climax is a bold graffiti action, on-location in night-time Halifax: “Women Loving Women.”
