Actor, filmmaker. Swiss-born, Montreal-bred, McGill- and Banff-trained, Morgenstern is known for strong performances in several iconic lesbian films, notably the landmark features Forbidden Love: The Unashamed Stories of Lesbian Lives (1992, 85) and Revoir Julie (Jeanne Crépeau, 1998, 92), plus several shorts such as Why I’ll Never Trust You (In 200 Words or Less) (Cassandra Nicolaou, 1995, 11). The diminutive, bilingual, queer-friendly blonde is best known as the naive but fast-learning country girl in Forbidden Love, but also demonstrated a flair for repartee in Revoir. In all her roles Morgenstern merges transparency and playfulness, and in some of the hottest sex scenes in the Canadian lesbian canon, vulnerability and fire.
